SECOND DISTRICT PTA

Advocacy

Plan now for the 2011 Legislation Conference

Registration is now open

Registration is now open for the 2011 California State PTA Legislation Conference to be held Monday, February 7, through Tuesday, February 8, in Sacramento.  Whether you're an experienced advocate or interested in learning how you can become a more effective advocate for the children in your school and community, this conference is for you.

You will learn about the priorities of the California State PTA.  Legislators and key officials will share their views on the state of our schools, the status of education funding and other critical children's issues.  Finally, you will have an opportunity to visit legislators who represent your community.  If you're new to the process, we'll connect you with others so you can learn how to have productive legislator visits.

Now, more than ever, California's more than 9 million children need your voice.  Budget forecasts suggest the state will face another large deficit next year.  Unfortunately, this means funding for education and children's services will continue to be a tremendous challenge.  Learn what California State PTA is doing, and how you can be involved to make a difference!

in
Sacramento, February 7-8!

"To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship."

Any unit, council or district PTAs may recommend action on legislation to the California State PTA Board of Managers. Unit, council and district PTAs are responsible for taking action on local issues originating in school districts, cities, regions, or counties.

Laws enacted by local, state and national bodies are primary sources of public policy. Securing adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth is one of the purposes of the organization. Therefore, PTA maintains an active legislation program.

PTAs can and must participate actively in the process through which public policy decisions are made.
